Gotta say, I've always thought these rape prevention classes are kind of stupid. Certainly, knowing how to defend yourself is a good thing, but why does it always have to be with a focus on preventing rape? Whether someone wants to rape you or mug you or whatever else, the attack and countermeasures are likely to be similar, so is it really, REALLY necessary to put the idea of one of the most horrifying, violating crimes possible into the student's mind? I can't see that doing anything but creating paranoia.

I think the reason they call it a "Rape Class" rather than a "Self Defense Class" is to discourage men from attending. Just imagine the droves of sick guys hitting on girls that can't defend themselves. If they call it a "Rape Class" they might be able to get away with only letting women attend. Although the class is called "Women's Self Defense", its only sponsored by "Rape Prevention Education". And speaking of "Rape Prevention", this should be the first lesson: Don't dress slutty. Am I right? I mean seriously, would you rather rape a women who is wearing blue jeans, a regular shirt and a coat, or a woman wearing a low cut blouse with a miniskirt so short you can see the pink string bikini she is wearing underneath? My vote goes to the miniskirt wearing slutbag that is about to get raped.

...and yes, I said "slutbag". That's the next word to get added to the dictionary, Jake.

Yeah, that's definitely a factor. Certainly, not dressing slutty isn't a 100% guarantee that nobody's going to attack you, but it certainly couldn't hurt. That's true though, I guess it's not technically "rape prevention class," but even so, a kick to the balls shouldn't be exclusive to rapists, should it?

Well you're not on CNN, are you? When you say "slutbag" on national television, I'll raise an eyebrow.
